Phu Quoc island is the largest island in Vietnam. Phu Quoc and nearby islands, along with distant Thổ Chu Islands, is part of Kiên Giang Province as Phú Quốc District. The district has a total area of 574 square kilometres and a permanent population of approximately 103,000. Located in the Gulf of Thailand, the district of this island includes the island proper and 21 smaller islets. The district seat, Dương Đông, is located on the west coast, and is also the largest town on the island. The economy is centered on fishing, agriculture and a fast-growing tourism sector.

Phu Quoc has a monsoon sub-equatorial climate. Trips to Phu Quoc can be made all year round. But the best time is dry season when the sky is always sunny, clear and blue.

In addition, you will visit Ham Ninh fishing village where you can find many types of seafood here. A combination of an outdoor restaurant and seafood market, the village promises an affordable, convivial night out. Located on the eastern coast, Ham Ninh village is set inland from the ocean along a canal where stilt houses, colorful boats and floating restaurants hover above the water. Moreover, for lunch or dinner, travelers can simply pick from the daily catch and choose a preparation method — grilled, steamed, hot pot style or fried up with local pepper, garlic and a mountain of Vietnamese herbs.
